ALOE

I got an Aloe plant from Toni that was her mum's.  Was she givig it to me to look after while she is on vacation or for good? I am not sure but I am going to do my best to keep it alive!

Caring for Your Aloe Plant

  1. Light Requirements

    • Place the aloe plant in bright, indirect light.
    • Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.
    • If the plant grows tall and spindly, it needs more light.
    • A south or west-facing window is ideal.
  2. Watering

    • Water deeply but infrequently. Ensure water drains from the pot’s bottom.
    • Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings.
    • Signs of overwatering: yellowish, red, or soggy leaves.
    • Signs of underwatering: shriveled or thin leaves.
    • Water less in winter when there's less sunlight.
  3. Soil and Potting

    • Use well-draining soil, like cactus mix or a mix of sand and perlite.
    • Always use a pot with drainage holes.
    • Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its pot.
  4. Temperature and Environment

    • Keep the plant in temperatures between 55°F and 80°F (13°C - 27°C).
    • Protect from frost by bringing it indoors during cold months.
    • Ensure good airflow around the plant.
  5. Fertilizing

    • Fertilize sparingly in spring and summer with diluted liquid fertilizer.
    • Feed once in spring and once in summer.
